GGG diehards say GGG did the ''right choice'' fighting Canelo. But Canelo doesn't get credit for providing GGG's family some generational wealth.
Canelo would have been fine - would certainly have made his $ millions without Golovkin. The kid was being groomed as one of several possibilities for the next Vegas / WBC superstar from his early twenties.

Golovkin benefitted massively financially from having been the guy at the top at 160 and a star in his own right (albeit a smaller one) when Canelo got there. If he hadn't have been there he wouldn't have got the call or the money. He suppossed to fall down his knees and thank Canelo for all the work he put in to getting to #1 at 160?

Honestly if I'm GGG and I had to thank someone I'd be more likely to thank the eff out of HBO for investing their dwindling funds in him between 2012 and 2018

But yeah, mang, it's a Canelo world now. I think we should all get together in a virtual group hug then genuflect and give thanks to the Ginger Emperor just for being so... goddamn... GLORIOUS...

Two stars that met in the ring and sold two ppv's very well.

Canelo was a star already and it made him into a superstar with the killer reputation that GGG had.

Both fights were close entertaining affairs.
