  • Comments Thread For: Luis Ortiz To Andy Ruiz: Why Do You Need a Tuneup? Let's Fight!

Heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz of Cuba will be 41 years old in a few days, but that is an insignificant number according to his way of looking at life. Ortiz has other choice but to wait for a fight, due to the lack of a real opponent. The man known as 'King Kong' is hoping that a new opportunity will come around to prove his worth in the ring.

Man i like Ortiz but these old fighters need to retire and it's getting old, literally, seeing these old guys get beat by the so called up in comers.

Granted they are in much better shape than most people younger than them but they just can't compete for a whole 12 rounds against younger above average fighters. Seriously, if Ortiz was wilders age he probably beats him the first fight and didn't tire out.

Povetkin, pulev and so forth are at the end of their career and we have to keep watching these recycled fighters fight AJ, wilder, whyte... Were the F is the youth in this division??? Sure ok Dubois looks promising but hes not exciting. Just a big guy who's knocking out scrubs. Usyk is on his way to the back end if his career. Hes what 34?

Not enough great fighters in the division and they keep dragging out garbage fights that most care nothing about. We should have the tops of the tops fighting each other already.

Sure, do the wilder vs fury 3. Usyk and whyte should be fighting or whyte and ruiz. AJ vs usyk. Fury vs AJ. Wilder vs whyte. Wilder vs usyk. Throw Dubois in this mix if you want. These are the combos i want to see. Not a AJ continuing to fight 38+ year old fighters.

I think you are making a little too much of the "old" fighters.

Most of the ones you mention will waste Dubois.

There is a lot more to this game than "old" age.

And maybe Ruiz like everyone else want no parts of Ortiz. Too much risk.

Ortiz has a name and is old.... That's a cherry pickers wet dream, unless you unsure of winning that is......

Somebody please fight Candyman so we can lay this ****** debate to rest.

          Was Ortiz a hypejob???

Are guys gonna keep screaming blood pressure/diabetes and find ways to not fight the guy???

Who is this "everyone else" thats so scared of ruiz? Where did that rumor even come from?
Ortiz isn't a hypejob. Hes a decent fighter who looks "great" to some people because hes in a **** era of heavyweights.
Hes a 50 year old who has high blood pressure and takes ped's.

Ortiz is still a top 10 and arguably top 5 HW. I have zero idea why it is so hard to get him an opponent. The Wilder fights have made him more bankable and he is a great test for anyone. I understand those in line for mandatories passing on him, honestly. No sweat there. But who else will Ruiz, Parker, or Kownacki fight to prove they are still top level?

Ortiz will bring it. This sport supports his kid's medical bills. He is fighting for all the right reasons. Maybe some of these other boxers just do not have that kind of real motivation.

Ortiz unironically takes Ruiz Jr. to 12 with the possibility of a late round tko via "No Mas"

Cubans are all wrong for Mexicans, and considering that Fat Andy isn't a true one, he has no chance.

It would be a brutal reiteration of Lara's Intro to Boxing class that Canelo attended.

Luis Ortiz is still good. He only lost to Wilder and that too he was winning rounds comfortably

I think u type the first part wrong? Ortiz not Ruiz?

But yeah thats been the debate or argument with fans. Im just bringing it up.

You have one side like you said who think he is great and the other side saying he just hyped up to make Wilder look good.

And yeah its always been a rumor/conspiracy about guys ducking Ortiz.

Im saying i hope somebody fights him so we can have perspective on him and how much credit should Wilder got beating him twice.
