Cotto probably learned from the Mayweather fight. Have everything in the contract that gives you that psychological edge.

Probably around the same time he started referring to himself in the third person.

Cotto used to storm out after every loss, crying that he was robbed.

I think Pacquaio was the only fight he admitted he lost. That one was so dominant he had no choice but to admit defeat.

Every other loss though, he claimed victory. In his own mind he beat Canelo, Floyd, Trout. He also claims his struggle with one eyed margarito and rebraking his orbital bone erases the first loss, which didnt count because his teams approval of the gloves in that fight wasnt good enough and surely Margarito used loaded gloves even though he has no proof.

Also those close victories of his own over Mosley and Clottey, those were surely dominant displays of boxing prowess in his own mind.

The loss to Margarito changed him, Cotto was one of the only stars NOT to have any tattoos. The minute he lost to Margarito he tattood his whole body, including his neck. That definitely is a tell tale sign of something going on in his head.
