Why is/was Zab Judah ever so highly rated?

The guy has really no wins of note against anyone I would consider elite and has lost to some **** average fighters in humiliating fashion.

up until the Paulie loss every time he'd lose when he stepped up what would happen was he'd have a stoppage or two win against someone totally unheralded then everyone would say Zab has his mind right and focused, he's back.......really he was never there, he was never very good or anywhere near elite or a special fighter.

Just a good athlete who happened to box.

People NEVER stopped holding on to him beating Cory Spinks to become undisputed welterweight champion as some kind of proof that he had finally figured it out. So every time he let people down afterwards, they never stopped saying "if the Judah who beat Spinks shows up..."

He's not too different from Khan in that regard, except Khan at least has some solid wins over better opponents than Judah ever beat.

It might actually be his best but he still looked bad, it was one of those where he was fortunate the clock ran out because Lucas got started so late.

Zab is both underrated and overrated.

IMO Zab was a very good boxer that had pretty much everything as far as skills to be a GREAT boxer. Unfortunately for Zab he was never mentally strong. Floyd labeled Zab a front-runner and I agree with that. You can have all the skills in the world but if you lack mental toughness you will never come close to your full potenional.

This is the correct answer. Zab never had an answer for when **** didn't go his way. But Zab was a dedicated boxer. Let's not Adrien Broner him. He was wayyyy more committed to his craft. His downfall was his weak mentality.

Zab had all the God given gifts to be successful, mentally he just didn't have it.

He’s one of 11 people to become undisputed welterweight champion.
