oscar stopped vargas with a combo like that. i think DLH showed he deserved what was already an extremely close fight, in that 12th round

      I some cases.

      For example

      5th round- Tito/Mayorga
      6th round- Gatti/Mayweather
7th round- Calzaghe/Lacy (I think that was the round)

            I don't really think it's right so I don't.

As per rule, boxing matches are to be scored per round. So irregardless how dominant the performance of a fighter in a round it should not give him any advantage that will extend to the succeeding rounds and much more to the total scores.

Otherwise if the other fighter is getting severe punishment wihtout him countering then the fight should be stopped.

When a fighter is completely dominant throughout the whole three minutes with virtually no punches in return being landed, do you ever give a 10-8 round without a KD? I'm thinking of stuff like some of the Joe Blow-Lacy rounds, or the three judges scoring 10-8 in the 7th round of Baldomir-Judah.

It seems a fairer way IMO to reflect the way a fight has progressed. Too often you get fights being won because someone "edged" or "nicked" rounds, while the other rounds were completely dominant in one direction.

Or take Hatton-Collazo... was it really fair that the Collazo that had Hatton in a world of trouble in the 12th should only get a 10-9 score, while Hatton picks up 10-8 in the first due to a harmless flash knockdown?
that harmless flash knockdown put collazo right onto his back. in the 12th, ricky didnt go down, and ricky was never really staggerd (meaning he wasnt doing a chicken dance), he was just hurt and wasnt really "dominated" in that round.

as for the topic, i know i can, but i almost never score a 10-8 round without a KD. its just confusing, arguementative, unfair, and IMO pointless.

I may, but, in fights officiated by a good ref, I shall not have a chance. A good "third man" would have already stopped the fight before I can be required to give such a score.

Yes, when the other guy is repeatedly staggered and dominated over the entire round..........

Technically, yeah, but wasn't it more of a case of Collazo's feet being planted together at the wrong moment?

I take A's point about the "staying on your feet" bit, but it seems unfair that some boxers can lose an extra point for being KD'd when they might just be offbalance...
