Comments Thread For: Usyk Talks Isolation in Training Camp, Adjusting To Heavyweight

Being in isolation will be easy for Oleksandr Usyk as he prepares for what he hopes will be a May 23 date with Dereck Chisora. While many across Europe are being forced to self-isolate, Usyk says he is looking forward to some solitude in training camp and says one of the reasons for taking the fight with Chisora was to have a break from family life.

He's gonna be spending some more time in isolation once Chisora lays him to rest.

His days of feasting off overrated eur0trash like Breidis and Gassiav are over.

Chisora has shown no respect for champions like Vitali Klitschko in the past, or his brother Wlad for that matter, he certainly wont be caught up in the Usyk hype train!

I only wish they'd cancel this fight, there's no need for a handsome young man like Usyk to get in there and trade punches with a maniac like Derrick Chisora.

He should stick to safer fights like Kownaki or may be a Povetkin type fighter... someone else who is overhyped like him.

Chisora has come up the hard way and has paid his dues along the way. He will be looking to take it all out on this pretty boy and I just hope the ref doesn't let it go on for too long.
Usyk has a family to think about

Usyk is too slick for Chisora would be my assessment. He may as well train, but it's highly unlikely he or anyone else will be boxing in the next three months, at least.

Interesting facts in this article. I like to add, unlike Anthony Joshua who robbed Italy's Roberto Cammarelle for the gold in the super-heavyweight division in the 2012 Olympics at London, Olek Usyk also competed against another Italian ( Clemente Russo ) for the Gold in the regular HW class. However, Usyk won without controversy and avenged his loss to Clemente Russo.

I'm back! I took a hiatus from boxingscene after bird legs lost. I truly didn't see that coming. Now I'm a believer in Fury and really appreciate his character and antics- truly a stand up guy. Anyways, I hope Usyk is training hard. It would be interesting if he can shake things up even more in the Heavyweight division

Usyk has to show 2 very simple, common sense things at HW:

Can he deliver a punch with power enough to keep his opponents honest at this division, all much bigger than at CW?

Can he handle the MASSIVE power shots coming back at him from his opponents, all much bigger than at CW?

If both of those answers are a "yes", than Usyk has the tools and work ethic to really make some fun freaking fights for a few years. If either of those questions are a "no", than his egg timer is very short at HW and he better cash out. If both of those questions are answered with a "no", than Chisora will 100% show it this fight. I am an Usyk fan, so I worry about his power but feel everything else is ready. This is a big, big fight for him. Huge. His ability to make this transition will be answered emphatically by the experienced and fearless Chisora.

This fight isn't going to happen. No fights are going to happen for the next few months unless it's in an empty arena or a country like Saudi.
