Iceman John Scully’s Auction: Is changing the prize without notice acceptable?

Im demanding an answer right now and I want to know what you guys think. Without bias.....

Auction was for 1983 Ring Mag signed by Mancini..

Couple of weeks ago, Iceman John Scully held an auction on this forum and I made the last call. It looked to be a done deal at that point and his last words were, “ok Ill get back to you” and dude just disappeared.

Yesterday, after weeks of silence, dude reaches out to me with some random ass Sports Illustrated magazine saying that itll get signed by Mancini for the same $......

Wtf kind of mickey mouse bullsht is that? So this dude trying to double dip now and im supposed to go along for the ride lmfao.

Wtf you take me for, a sucker?? Lol Like im some jerkoff fanboy who is down for whatever?

I am a businessman and punctuality is everything. Word is bond and you didn’t keep it.

I tried to help out for a good cause but the auction’s integrity is in question.

What are your thoughts on that?

No, I will pass pn the switch and bait. Next time you hold an
“Auction”, you should be more clear.

I was going to bid on it but didn't know what the deal was about that at all,so I didn't because the whole thing was sketchy af & completely unorganized. I wish hed make it an ebay auction or something official & upfront at least. The way he did it was like asking random dudes at the busstop for pocket change in exchange for it which means nobody even knows how to bid without being insulting or getting ripped off. What was your bid?

Obviously it ain't ideal, but no money has yet changed hands so you ain't lost anything and you ain't been ripped off. John's doing his best to help guys who have left their health in the ring far as I can tell, but shit happens.

Personally I'd be thinking of the underlying principle rather than my personal wants here... sure John should probably have been upfront if he got a better offer privately or somesuch, but at the end of the day if more money goes to the guys who need it I'm in favour. If he just fucked up and his damn dog ate his mag I'd like to think he'd have the integrity to say so, but I ain't in the business of judging others - most especially when I ain't privvy to the full facts.

If it was me to be honest I'd be reaching out to John and politely making the suggestion that there might be better ways of going about how he tries to raise money... maybe even offering my help in doing so, though warning other posters that maybe they want to be a little cautious ain't necessarily a bad thing.

        ^^^^^

        This.

I’m reserving judgement until I hear both sides. TBH I think you’re shady, Finito. I smelled it when you were trying to lure me into a bet.

I guess he asked the mod to delete the auction thread cuz it doesnt work anymore. How convenient.

Everybody dropped out except for me and another person. Other individual bid 240 something at the end and I called 260.. and then iceman disappeared..

A simple explanation would have been respectable but there wasnt even that. I only got a sports illustrated offer like wtf I havent been this dumbfounded in a while. lol

Apparently, some dudes will lay down and accept injustice but I dont. Most people who are in my my shoes will feel the same way.

Good that you didnt get involved cuz i wasted about an hr of my time.

Not gonna lie I knew you got ripped off after you put in the highest bid and he was like......"alright talk to you later bro" lol.

Tough luck man. A lesson was learned.

If you didn't give him any money yet, tell him to kick rocks and have him re-do the auction. Mods gotta ask for him to post pictures though so it doesn't happen again.

It’s easy to say this and that when it’s other peoples’ problem rather than your own.

So drop all that high and mighty stuff, Koba, and try to be more objective.

Forget about the cause and what this auction was for.

Do you know how auctions are supposed to be run? Not like this.

Im only talking about the Auction so gtfo with all that “ oh as long as money went to the right person” rubbish nonsense.

If that was the case, why not just ask for simple donations instead of holding this bugus ass auction?

So before you speak on another persons’ issue, maybe you should put yourself in that shoes first.

What i think happened is this.

The other person who bid was somebody on his facebook friend list. I dont do FB so I made my bids on here and Iceman relayed the bid etc....

I think he just decided to give it to his facebook friend and attempted to double dip on me with a Sports illustrated magazine lol.

So he got 240 from his buddy and dude tried to come up another 260 from me with another prize..

That’s how i see it but whatever. I guess Ill just pickup another OZ lol

You want I should post the text of my reply to your PM, man? You asked people for their thoughts and I gave 'em, .

Sure the Iceman ain't necessarily done this the best way, but at least he's trying to do something worthwhile for people who are genuinely struggling and all you're doing is moaning about how your little acquisition didn't come off according to plan.

I was absolutely damn serious, you're good at telling other people how damn great you are - how about using some of that talent of yours to actually do something that might benefit these guys and help John do his thing instead of just attending to your own needs?

Compassion, man, empathy, understanding, try it - shit you might even find it makes you feel good.
