Yes he did, and from a memberr of the low IQ crew - aka a Wilder fanboy - that's an astute observation.

Ali not only brought race into boxing, he also made blatantly racist anti white statements after joining the Nation of Islam. I think there were a few reasons why he was able to do that and still be seen as a heroic figure by the white mainstream.

He came up during the US Civil Rights era, and was viewed as part of that movement himself. Maim stream media all over the world were hugely sympathetic towards the Civil Rights movement, especially after the assassination of Dr King.

He took a political stand against an unpopular war, and lost his title as a result of refusing to be drafted to fight in Vietnam. People all over the world admired him as a man of principle.

He was a very charismatic and funny guy. I've watched videos on YT of Ali saying hateful, racist things about white people, but even as a white guy myself, I've been chuckling too much to be offended by it.

This whole thing about Wilder bringing race into boxing started in the build up to the first fight, when he got angry because Fury was getting so much sympathy from the US media talking about "his people" being oppressed for thousands of years.

That's what triggered Deontay's "four hunnet years .. my people too .. till this day!" outburst.

He was also giving interviews and taking part in discussions at LDBC boxing channels. No doubt he was doing that to publicise the fight and add to his fan base. But, like the saying goes, if you lie down with dogs, you get fleas.

I guess the difference between Fury and Wilder is that Fury's "race" is a tiny subculture within the indigenous white population of Ireland and the UK. Irish travelers are not viewed as threatening or oppressive by the US mainstream media.

The problem is, a lot of Americans still have this racial view of the world, 50 years behind the rest of the world

The quoted paragraph might sound good in the US, but the rest of the world looks at it and wonders why you guys are so fixated about skin colour.

Fury doesn’t see it in those strange American terms. Skin colour is irrelevant to him, like it is to the majority of the developed world sans the US. You guys also need to stop thinking it’s a general global thing - it’s just an American thing
Brilliant post, absolutely spot on. The world look at it and just laugh at them. On the 2nd of February it was Wilder v Fury in there, nothing more nothing less.

He made it about race to sell tickets and pay per views. I don't really mind or care that he did. Infact it all came back and bit him on the bum when the feather fisted white man demolished and humiliated him after wilders claim of turning Fury in to a black history month question.

Maybe separating whites and blacks is the done thing in America.

I hope this time for the trilogy he cuts back and allow the promoters to do their jobs while he does his.
Nah...you cannot gloss over his "till this day" bulls**t and all his other inflammatory statements as being an act / part of promotion.

He genuinely is an idiot who, like say, Trump, feeds off of creating negative energy.

Wilder is a very low intelligence, racist hype job who is, rather ironically, being used by white ******* Finkel as a cash cow to milk.

Notice Finkel is already posturing about a potential 4TH fight with Fury?

If there are Wilder fans who cannot see that he is a hyped phenomena with zero boxing skills, that has been carefully matched - they need a new brain.

The guy is maybe top 20, there are a dozen I can name off the cuff who would give him a better beatdown that Fury did.

Fury, don't forget, has one good career win, and that is Wlad. Outside of that he has beaten a smorgasboard of nobodies (same as Wilder has) and a hype job.

Joshua, Whyte, Usyk, Dubois, Ajagaba, Hrgovic, Parker, Povetkin, Chisora and more are all favourite against the hype job.

Finkel won't let the bronze ducker near any of those names.

Once Wilder takes his next beatdown from Fury he will simply retire. With excuses. But he won't be man enough to take on any of the above.

All he did was pay tribute to Harriet Tubman.
If you have a problem with that you should discuss it with your Klan buddies
