How would Ray Mercer have done in todays HW division?

Yeah, because Joshua was fully prepared for that fight.
How'd the rematch play out?
When did you see Ruiz's handspeed from Mercer?
Joe Grimm had a granite chin. What'd that make him? The losing'est fighter of all time.
That's what Mercer would be... until his opponents targeted his body. Then he'd be stopped.Comment

Don't matter how you want it interpreted you said Mercer could do what a 6'6" 230 lb. Southpaw did when fighting like a man-possessed.This is what I said in my post:
Fury at his best wins a decision, however the Fury who fought Otto Wallin would struggle mightily and the decision might be controversial.
In other words, if Fury doesn't show up at his best (Fury wasn't at his best when he fought Otto Wallinmo), he would struggle mightily (against Ray Mercer) and the decision might be controversial (meaning the fight could go either way)
At no point did I directly compare Otto Wallin to Ray Mercer
Mercer never had those dimensions. He never fought with that sense of urgency. He wasn't a south paw. And MAYBE he didn't even have that chin.
Oh and what did Wallin do that night? Win about THREE rounds. That's it! But hey ... it's 3 more rounds than the best Mercer would have won.Comment

Mercer may have been a huge puncher but he was a second tier fighter at the time and he wouldnt be much different today.
There are several guys today who would beat Mercer.Comment

Damn, how does it feel to have one mans balls in your mouth all day, everyday?
This is true
This is also true.Comment

Because someone could take a punch had a losing record is irrelevant. Ray was a solid heavyweight not the cream of the crop at the time he was campaigning. The question was how would he do today not would he be the very best heavyweight. I think he would do very well. Let's face it other than a few guys at the top the heavyweight division is at a historical low point right now.Yeah, because Joshua was fully prepared for that fight.

I don't have to. If you disagree it's up to you to disprove my claim. After all I was directing my initial post to someone else who hasn't responded to me indicating I'm wrong on that point. . I think it's only fair If a person jumps into another conversation it's proper that they post why think it's incorrect. Not some vague references to another fighter with a good chin who had a dismal record. I think that reasonable people would agree that is a totally irrelevant point.
