Smartest boxers and ******est boxers

Fury isn't that intelligent unless your bar for intelligence is very low. You can't call a man who contradicts himself every other day an intelligent man. It clearly shows he doesn't remember what he says most of the time. But I'd say when it comes to being opportunistic, he's clearly up there. And that has to do with him being a Gypsy. Gypsies are naturally opportunistic people, hence they're very cunning.
Wilder would have to be the dumbest by 100 miles. The smartest would have to be Josh (AJ) because he has self-managed his career from the start and the Klitschko brothers.Comment

Jack Johnson is the smartest boxer of all time, he's the sole inventor amongst them.
Primo for the dumbest, forgiving time-based beliefs like meat and beer are good for pre-fight meals or scientific racism, guys like Sully are the poorest educated, but, Primo's basically just a puppet. Thoughtless, or, unconcerned, take your pick.
Tunney also has a degree like K2. I'm not sure it was a doctorate, but, I remember being impressed. If it's important ot interesting to you, look up Tunney, he is educated.
Kid McCoy for backhanded cleverness. Kid did things like going to Peter Maher, the KO King of the 1890s, and warning him before the fight their match is merely an exhibition, no power stuff, no knocking the crap out of each other. Kid's about twenty pounds smaller than Pete. Peter agrees and acts real nice through out. Then Kid just turns it up and puts Peter on his ass. "Deceitful Spaleen!" Peter yells as he hits the deck. I remember the quote 'cause it's funny as hell in an olde timey manner.
In another case Kid went to Tommy Ryan to get a title fight from him. Ryan was uninterested but Kid presented himself to Ryan looking sickly and talking about how he just needs money for medical bills. Ryan agrees to take the fight and does little training or prep work thinking it basically a fix. Kid shows up fight night looking fierce while Tom simply shows up. Yes, Kid McCoy became champion that fight.
on top of stuff like that McCoy added to boxing with techniques like the corkscrew punch that remains a staple in boxing for only the best and elite.
Jack Johnson - Added to man's toolbox
Tunney/K2 - Have nice pieces of paper that suggest they could maybe add to man's toolbox.
Kid - A ****ster who tended to get away with his exploits.Comment

AJ clearly isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, and he hasn't self managed anything, he does what he's told to by Eddie.
He is smarter than Wilder though, i'll give him that much.Comment

Well, the level of education amongst gypsies tells you all you need to know. They're very cunning and that's where it ends. Only an idiot would think a gypsy is smart. Being opportunistic doesn't make you smart. Tyson Fury is also cut from the same cloth. All gypsies talk s*** and contradict themselves, it doesn't mean they're ******, it just means they chat s***

Eddie Hearn is your typical loudmouthed Essex chav. And people from Essex aren't known for being smart either. AJ is the most well spoken boxer by a mile. And his decision making when it comes to his career has been top-notch, save for the Ruiz glitch which was clearly him trusting Eddie Hearn over his instinct and we all know how that ended.
Hearn gets too much credit for AJ's career despite having loads of boxers before and after AJ that he's yet to turn into a star. And for someone who has followed Josh from his amateur career, he has never had a manager. He has been self-managed by himself with inputs/advice from his uncle, Rob McCraken and Shaun Murphy.
Or tell me one boxer Eddie has turned into a star (minus Josh)?Comment

I don't think Broner is that dumb, I think he is playing a character most of the time. Getting people to dislike him in order to make the most money of his talent. If anything i think he knew he wasn't good enough to make a ton of money on skills alone. Clearly not a smart guy, but not as dumb as he comes across.
It's mind boggling to me that Amir Khan hasn't been mentioned yet. The guy always seemed borderline ******ed to me, while being seemingly completely sincere lol. Holyfield is dumb as rocks too i'm afraid.
As someone mentioned, degrees don't necessarily make you smart. Jack Johnson might in fact be the best bet for smartest boxer despite having little to no education. Ali was very smart in his way as well, despite lacking formal education as well on account of his dyslexia.
Marquez, Barrera, Roy Jones, SRL, Hopkins and Hagler are up there. As far as degrees go Juan Diaz, Calvin Brock and DeVarryl Williamson in addition to the K bros come to mind. Williamson is extra impressive since he grew up bouncing around foster homes.
A lot of fighters have degrees actually, most aren't talked about as much as the K bros for whatever reason though.Comment
