I believe that the Mexican style is based on countering the backfoot European style. Could be wrong though.

Why's the Mexican style so difficult for British boxers to adapt to?
Yafai didn't lose to a Mexican. He lost to a great fighter from South America. He just lost to a much better fighter. Simple as that. Gonzalez had faster hands and was far more accurate and skilled at landing his punches. He hit much harder and had better stamina. Edwards also lost to a faster, harder punching fighter. Boxing is very important to Mexico and it's a way out of poverty. Good boxers is a tradition and a way of life in Mexico and they have always had more than their share of good boxers that are hard to beat. If the English boxer is good enough he will beat the Mexican. Both Taylor and Ramirez are extremely good fighters and either man could win. Taylor has a great style that is effective against any boxer but so does Ramirez so it shouldn't be a matter of one style beating the other style. It will just come down to who is the better fighter with more speed, skill, stamina, toughness and punching power.

I understand all that. It's why I said technically.
