This is very much like I saw it except I thought Vargas won all of the first 4 rounds. Also, Mikey was leery of Vargas' power. There was a time or two that Mikey was a bit buzzed and had to regroup. The commentators were swinging from Mikey's nads after the round were he knocked Vargas down. Vargas was still landing punches and bothering Mikey but the commentators were talking as if the fight should be stopped...even while Vargas was clearly fighting back.

Yeah HBO was notorious for doing that chit do. I just want to hear whats happening round by round punch by punch not about what happened 2 rounds ago to go along with their narrative of the obvious blatant agenda but they can't even do that right. Kenny's like "big overhand right just landed by Garcia" when he didn't even land a dam thing or something grazing at best lol SMFH...

It's almost as if he became fixated on the knockdown over the next few rounds and wasn't watching the fight as it was happening. Vargas was landing a lot of punches and Mikey constantly had to regroup and reassess his line of offense, while at the same time maintaining his defence.

This was a very hard fight for both guys but the commentators were making it sound like it was a walk in the park for Mikey Garcia.

Despite this adequate win, I still think WW is a weight class too far for Mikey. Although he could be a threat to the top WW's, there is far too much politicking going on here. Who does he have a chance against? Sure, a fight with Pac, Thurman, Porter or Crawford might look good on paper but jumping two classes to fight Spence was a reach too far.

If he feels ready and willing to roll the dice, @ 5"6' his best chance might be Crawford, who seems gridlocked and hemmed in.

I think he would be more comfortable at 140, despite the perceived lack of opportunities (with all the weight jumping going on who knows how the division could flesh out in 6 months to a year? and he needs to be fighting more regularly at 32. Once a year is bordering on inactivity.

Lol at the idea 116 111 for Garcia is some kind of blasphemy. Vargas' momentum off an arguable shutout first third did in fact nose dive after the kd in 5, despite the DAZN commentary avengers selling that angle a little too hard from there on. If you find 1 or 2 more for Vargas from 6 onward in a back half that got very nip-tuck and want to say it feels a little wide I'm not too beat up, but the right guy won this.
