  • Comments Thread For: Vargas: I've Never Looked This Good in Camp, I'll Beat Mikey Garcia

Former two division champion Jessie Vargas will be looking to secure one of the biggest wins of his pro career on Saturday night, when he faces four-division world champion Mikey Garcia. In March 2019, Garcia moved up in weight by two divisions to challenge IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence, who dominated Garcia over twelve rounds for a wide unanimous decision.

If Vargas keeps Mikey at the end of his jab he can probably control the fight he's got the height and reach.

Not sure he has the power to keep Mikey honest but he has shown he can clip guys from time to time.

I can't really see a future for Mikey at 47. Vargas is probably the safest credible opponent for him at the weight due to his lack of power. I guess hes just trying to get that Pacquiao fight. I don't see Pac losing to anyone smaller than him even at his age unless he gets old overnight like Cotto.

If the Pac that fought Thurman shows up I see him stopping Mikey.

        Let’s Go!!!!
I’m dropping $200 on you Jesse to win $758 for now...
And if I get a drunk before the Fight and feeling ******....
I might just drop $500 to win $1895...
Can’t believe mickey’s favored by this much...
Maybe Vargas will be weight drained???

He’s a good fighter and sounds sincere in his preparation but I can’t help to think of the opponent they have in common: Broner. Garcia won every round while Vargas sc****d by with a draw. How much better can you get with one excellent training camp?

Jessie’s only advantage is his size but he’ll be drained still. If we use Broner to measure their performances, Mikey is a level above Jessie.

I would be rooting for Vargas though for this fight cause I don’t wanna see Manny vs Mikey

This might very well be a draw.

i have been saying this! if vargas is discipline enough to just box mikey for the whole fight, he'll win an easy UD.
