The only clowns I see are the ones berating Wilder on this and every single forum that bares his name. You didnt like Wilder for being Wilder when he was undefeated, you dont like Wilder for being Wilder after he was defeated. We get it, you dont like Wilder, move one already. And those of you who have spent countless posts and who knows how much of your time talking as much schit as you can about Wilder not caring about his family before, stop acting like you care about them now. Its like someone else said. The sad thing is if everyone respected what he is saying. In the 3rd fight when he gets pumelled again, nobody steps in and he gets severe brain damage. Won't walk again. The people who didn't make the call to stop it will have to live with it for the rest of their lives.

Let's be fair here. Wilder certainly has not acted in a dignified way but Fury was worse (pre-fight) with his talking about wanking six or seven times a day and developing a special lotion for this juvenile practice.

Yes, let's be fair here. I was simply responding to someone claiming Wilder is a dignified person. I think that is a bit of a stretch. As for Fury, at times he has acted like a buffoon, and we can go on and on citing times when boxers and just about everyone else have acted ******ly but that is wandering far afield and not addressing the original question: Is Wilder the personification of dignity? With notable exceptions, most would say Wilder is not.

Saying you'd rather die in the ring is one thing, but more likely than death is permanent brain damage, being crippled or living the next 50 years as a vegetable. I'm not sure Deontay has thought that part through.

Wilder is not a “regular” person or athlete. Dude is a champion fighter . Wtf is wrong with his mentality? All modern day gladiators should carry that mentality inside the ring . It’s their job and people pay good money to see them in action.

Boxing is not some sick Roman circus. With some exceptions, people DO NOT pay good money to see boxers get killed. Get a grip, this is a sport not mortal combat.

Deontay has a reputation as a dedicated family man (not just in the media but also around his home town of Tuscaloosa where I live). He shouldn't be saying that he would rather die than lose. His eight kids need him to be around whether or not he's a star athlete.

I realize that boxers have to maintain a mentality that enables them to fight through pain and exhaustion that few normal people can understand. And maybe that win at all costs mentality is absolutely essential at the top level of the sport. But he really shouldn't be saying things in public that imply he would rather leave his family without him than lose a fight.
