DAZN isn't doing that again because they got hurt financially while Canelo got paid the same. Jacobs pay is a problem golden boy didn't give him that amount DAZN did. Hearn and DAZN signed him to a multi fight deal so his purse is inflated because of that but they set a precedent by overpaying for Jacobs forcing all future canelo opponents to ask for the same money. But like all busineses markets change and I think that's what you seeing. DAZN doesn't want to pay that money they said it at the Kovalev press conference they not going to be paying inflated prices for fighters anymore. If you aren't stars or drive subscribers. Said we knew we had to over pay to get in sport but we have fighters now and we are going to pay the market rate. Right now these guys asking for DAZN to keep bidding against themselves. No other network would pay Smith and Saunders 6M hell nobody would pay Jacobs and Kovalev 10M. Both guys were making 1M before canelo fights. If canelo fights lemieux I don't think DAZN subscribers is much different compared to say saunders who isn't a big name and known to make stinker fights. Lemieux will fight for the money available and will at least be entertaining for however long it goes and i think there are other fighters like a Ramirez or a name we don't know about who will take the money on the table and bring the same subscribers. Canelo is the one driving the subscribers anyway. Fight anyone in May when fight GGG or another big name in Sept.
Canelo doesnt “need” anybody, he’s the Pope for sure, and set for life. But ud think Oscar was also but he fights over every dollar. Ironically I don’t remember him ever having much trouble making fights in his career. It’s hard to know who is talking for who here. My point is they didn’t move on like Oscar said and will prolly end up paying BJS or Smith more than they offered which seems to be standard protocol. I know they can’t make Canelo do anything he doesn’t want to do and I admire that. I’d be pleased to see him fight Lemieux, but only because I’m Canadian. He doesn’t deserve the fight and would only get it because he came cheap enough, but would still be overpaid. Boxing is all about precedent, especially with paydays, like most sports. Like I said I don’t know exactly how to quantify DAZN results. Still GBP haven’t moved on to other opponents like they said they would. BJS and Smith have the same promoter so they will be unified when it comes to numbers. Lots of fighters, few promoters. With only two months to go if they plan on anyone else they woulda mentioned their name, or it just buries the promotion. Canelo is guaranteed his purse vs whoever he fights so there’s a bit of a paradox there.

Why isn't benavidez an option? Mexican vs Mexican American on 5 de mayo. Why target yet another UK fighter that isn't the best in the division and or coming off a poor performance? We've seen him face enough of those like Khan, Liam Smith and fielding. The only time he fought another Mexican on one of the Mexican boxing weekend dates that he insisted on having was when he fought Chavez Jr. And that fight was a complete disgrace. Especially after Oscar said it'd be another Barrera vs morales. I'm sure benavidez would make it an exciting fight, something Canelo hasn't had too many of other than the ggg rematch.

I suspect they know who their opponent is and they are gaming the system. They know Saunders is lazy. So they drag it out whilst C is training like a maniac. Then sign and S doesn't have time for a proper camp.

Basically we are paying for Canelo to simply get a belt at 168.

Neither fight impresses me. Callum gets stopped by round 4 and Saunders will stink up the place same way Lara did and then claim that he won.

Those matchups don't do anything for me

I reckon BJS troubles Nelo. That's the one I want to see next. He has great hand speed and would see the fight as his defining clash so puts everything into it.
I think it's competitive and Nelo isn't guaranteed his points win. Hope it happens.

I think Canelo walks right through BJS, but Callum Smith is a very dangerous fight.

BJS is a badtsyle matchup for Alvarez, he might have huge mobility and very good upper body movement, but he doesn't have the cat like reflexes nor the quickness that Floyd had, and he is a much more bigger target than Floyd is.

It would not be an easy matchup but don't compare apples to oranges.

smith a solid fighter ansd would give canelo the best challenge. im not sold on bjs. he has good legs and fast hands. i just see canelo walking him down and countering. either matchup is a good fight.

Well I guess a fight with either Smith or Saunders would qualify as one of those "historic" fights the diva was promising.
