    Jay Deas never boxed.

He was working for a Panama City tv station when his brother Tommy wanted to open a boxing gym.
His brother was the main sports writer at the Tuscaloosa news for Alabama football. His brother is very well known in Alabama. Wilder walked in one day wanting to learn how to box. Eight years later he is the world champion. Hollywood type story.

So Jay Deas went from teaching local young kids about boxing to training the HW world champ who has made about 60 million.

As much as Deas got exposed as a trainer at the top level, he does deserve some credit.

He took a local lanky 19 yr old kid with no experience and turned him into a world champion with 10 defences. Not many trainers do that...

Wilder obviously feels a loyalty to Deas and rightly so, but I do think he needs to change trainers at this point.

They got into Boxing because of having one of the largest boxing libraries on VHS in the world. Trainers would call wanting copies
          of fights before youtube.

Jay Deas is clueless, been saying it all along.

I’m not knocking what he’s done for Wilder’s life and career, but Deas knows nothing about the art of boxing. He should’ve gotten a real training team in, stepped aside and been in Wilder’s team in some other capacity when it got to a good level. But he’s so clueless that he doesn’t even realise it.

I think Deas has an ego and thinks he knows a lot more than he does. Not the loud & shouting egotistical type, but just a deluded one. The guy thinks he knows more about boxing than Breland, a former world champ and excellent fighter.

I think Deas drown himself in all the hype behind the right hand of Eilder and forgot to mention raw power only goes so far. Yes power is the last thing to go on a boxer but if it's the main thing you've got your eventually gonna get caught.

Deas is a coward for not standing by breland. They talk in the corner and in the end deas was like "uh he did it" ..untrustworthy back stabber

Worst thing happened to boxing in the Last 20 years
                  Klitschko Sisters
                  Floyd Mayweather / Al Gaymon
                  Julito Chavez

The K2 kept the HW landscape drained
TMT / Gaymon cherrypicked and avoided
Julito kept the Green belt Hostage and lived only of his PED induced power and size advantage

After boxing got rid of these vampires it only took a short while for the new bloodsuckers to appear

Canelo became the new Julito and then the new Floyd
Joshua and matchroom is wlads 2nd coming
Gaymons PBC is the mayweather blueprint
                  Wilder was the HW Julito

There are a lot of so-called boxing coaches who strike it lucky and produce a champion. Most of them are coaches from some local boys and girls club or small gym who do it in their spare time to help out kids or work the amateur circuit. They don't have the depth of experience to carry their fighter to the next level and help them make adjustments for opponents. Today, everyone thinks they are a boxing coach. I see some awful coaches in the corners in between rounds, they either give bad advice or no advice at all. Just pep talk their fighter and wipe the sweat from their face.
