Question: are all men from the corner entitled to throw the towel in a pro fight ? I heard that the 2nd trainer threw the towel in Wilder vs Fury fight, is that right ? Pls comment.
Throwing the towel

Depends on the team..... officially any one can throw it as the referee will stop the fight when he sees it. It's impossible to argue after that on who threw it and if it is official.
Most of the time the head trainer will have a towel over his shoulder at all times.
In Wilder's case I think Breland knew Deas would see him KO'd and so made the decision himself to protect someone he cared about..... I also don't think he will care about taking the blame to protect Wilder. Instead of talking about Wilder being KO'd, Wilder can claim he was stopped on his feet and could have carried on. -
I am not arguing the sense of throwing the towel in this case (I also agree the health of a fighter is the most important thing), I just wanted to know the technical aspect of such a situation.Depends on the team..... officially any one can throw it as the referee will stop the fight when he sees it. In Wilder's case one can see the situation the way that the 2nd trained either did it prematurely (having the towel grabbed from the chief trainer's shoulders) and/or the chief trainer did not care about Wilder's health early enough.
Anyway thanks for explanations.Comment

Wilder's second-trainer threw the towel in believing Wilder was taking too many clean shots..... I don't know how Wilder's team work or if he even had the power to do it.
Wilder and his team and main trainer will say he could have fought on, Breland will take the fall.
Whether Wilder could have fought on or whether Breland saved him from being KO'd is now a debate and sells a third fight.Comment

Jay Deas ( I think his name is , supposedly the head trainer ) had mentioned in an interview that their corner worked as a committeeI am not arguing the sense of throwing the towel in this case (I also agree the health of a fighter is the most important thing), I just wanted to know the technical aspect of such a situation.

He was certainly ready to pin point Breland as the one who threw the towel though
So my guessing is anybody could of thrown the towel at any timeComment

I think any of the approved corner team can stop a fight like that, because the assumption is that they work together, as a team.Comment
