Has The Ear Become The New Chin?

It seems strange to me that recently, Joshua, a British HW champ was beaten, KO'd in the 7th after a punch to the ear in the 3rd round seemed to leave him without equilibrium for the remainder of the fight. Joshua then offered his services to Fury in his training camp. Fury then comes out uncharacteristically attacking Wilder and landing a shot to, yep, you guessed it, Wilder's ear and almost instantly Wilder's equilibrium evaporated and never returned until the fight was stopped in the 7th round. I saw Fury going after the ear repeatedly, especially in the clinches. Wilder without balance was helpless and totally unable to set and fire the big punches he's so famous for. I don't believe in coincidences. I think Andy Ruiz Jr. taught Joshua something really valuable in their first fight. I think Fury targeted Wilder's ear with his right hand purposely.

I'm not sure about a blueprint to beat Wilder. An opponent still needs to be perfect or near perfect to avoid that punch for 12 rounds and not every opponent is going to be a 6'9 fighter that physically can absorb or avoid that huge right hand. But Wilder needs to fire some people, work on whatever fundamentals a fighter his age can work on, and fight 2-3 other guys who are not very illusive and then do whatever he has the burning desire to do if that includes a rematch with Fury. But I think in a 3rd fight Fury might even change up so more and fight in a style somewhere between the first and second fights and win a decision or late stoppage.

Hitchco.ck suspense about Wilder and Fury is gone, outcome of the third fight is predictable, I am not even sure there will be a huge money for that fight.

Wilder - Fury rivalry is fake one, there is no rivalry at all, it is something like Pacquiao -Bradley. Bradley was not in the same league with pacquiao.

AJ got caught by Ruiz fast hands recklessly coming in for a quick knockout. He never recovered from the first knockdown. That's fixable in a training camp. As it proved.

Fury would just dominate Wilder again, even more so if they fought a third time. Wilder will likely exercise the clause but yes, the fight would be one sided. You don't have to be perfect without errors to beat him. He had a really good career thought and got paid very well, and can be proud he became a world champion. There's no shame to lose to such a skilled big guy in Fury, now pound for pound one of the best.

The only fighter who beats the Tyson Fury who showed up Saturday night is Fury himself. Fury, like Roberto Duran, is his own worst enemy. Maybe Wilder should do what Ray Leonard did and get Fury back in the ring as soon as possible, hoping Tyson partied non stop and will come in out of shape. Or maybe not.

That would be an interesting gamble, but I think Fury can beat him hungover and at 75%.

You beat wilder with timing and basics.

I also think a big time pressure fighter who takes away wilder space and makes gim fight at a crazy pace stops him as well.


Ortiz was clearly outboxing him , got lazy and walked at the worst possible angle right to wilders right hand. Now add to that, ortiz was fighting at a slow methodical pace .
