As a Wilder fan (and with some money on Wilder), I was hoping Bayless would stop it. Yes, he has power, but his balance was gone and by that point he had nothing on his punches. No need for Deontay to take a even longer sustained beating and possibly suffer permanent damage. He's a warrior and stated that he wanted to go out on his shield, but he's also a dedicated family man and his kids need him around for more than just money. I respect Mark Breland for doing what he knew was right. I hope it doesn't cost him his job.
The way I saw it too...The Bully got Bullied...

The Cat that thru the Towel in deserves a Bonus...

Closeups of Wilder between Rounds was of a Beaten Man...

        Boo this man!
Yea, don't agree with his article at all.

Both knockdowns were legit and there was no controversy Saturday night.

Bayless was dreadful, he always is though, biased towards one fighter in every big fight he refs in. Mayweather Maidana 2 being one of his worst ones.

Thought Bayless was meant to ignore the ignore the white towel after watching Wilder eat about 6 u replied right from Fury? Or watch Fury knock him out cold seeing exhausted? You've gotta be rational sometimes. Bay was excellent in that fight

You can see in your signature gif and Deontay turned/dropped his head to avoid the shot as it came in, which resulted in it landing where it did. Probably ended up doing more damage than if it had hit him on the jaw. Thems the breaks when heavyweights are throwing bombs.

Nothing controversial about the punch in my book.

              EDIT:

Come to think of it, it's really similar what happened to Anthony Joshua. Ruiz's shot that landed on the top/side of Joshua's head is what really did him in, a hook if I remember correctly.

In that situation as well as this one, a lot of people that picked Joshua/Wilder are clutching their pearls and looking for an explanation.

Reality is... they got clipped and went down.

Kenny Bayless was brought in purely to help Wilder! Wilder's camp believed that last time they fought Fury and put him on the mat the count was too long? Bayless, and Richard Steele are known for stopping fights prematurely, and it is usually done to protect the House Fighter. Simply put, if Wilder had put Fury down in this fight, he would have got either a short, fast count or he would have simply been counted out from the beginning. This was a night, that whether Fury knew it or not, he was fighting two men.

Fury don't want to upset anyone because he intends to fight in Vegas again, probably against Wilder again.

And they will probably try even harder to rob him again next time.

He is on the Al Haymon payroll.

Some of the American fans here are always criticizing UK judges but there are more than a few US judges that should either retire or be fired. Bayless, Byrd, Nady and of course Lawrence Cole are all horrible judges. I used to like Byrd but he's too damn old now. He has been especially embarassing lately but just like his wife, Adelaide Byrd, they continue to get work on big cards.
