Wilder considered going down to Cruiserweight less than 2 years ago, should he?

After Wilder weighed in at 214 to fight Ortiz he said he'd consider going down to Cruiserweight. Then he weighed in at 212 for the first Fury fight. He weighed 231, his heaviest ever, for the Fury rematch. He said he was light because he was sick, but I think that those were his natural weights, and he forced himself to bulk up because he didn't want to have such a big weight disadvantage all the time.

Is it too late for him to cut down to 200 for the weigh in and then rehydrate?

Roy Jones tried that at the same age, going from Heavyweight all the way back down to Light Heavyweight in the same calendar year, and it turned out horrible for him. But Wilder might still be able to dominate at Cruiserweight now that Usyk has moved up.

When I do something I never even tried to do I'll go down in weight which isn't impressive and I'll still get stopped by punchers at CW is what he should have said.

He won’t make 200 comfortably anymore imo.

About the weight for the fight, it was actually Timothy Bradley who I first heard mention this. He said that Fury was clearly in Wilders head. Fury made himself look bigger and forced Wilder to come in bigger to try to match him.
It was Bradley who predicted a KO by Fury.

I think he would have a difficult time with the drop physically, but he could probably manage it with enough time. However, if he did it now, coming off the loss, how would anyone view it as anything but running?

He has made a fortune and does not appear to have been wasting it.

Do the rematch, collect another big check and call it a career. I think it’s a little late to drop weight or retool.
