Comments Thread For: Navarrete: If No Unification Bout Soon - I'll Move Up To 126

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - In a featured PPV bout, Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete (31-1, 27 KOs) made the fifth successful defense of his WBO junior featherweight world title in less than a year, knocking out Filipino challenger Jeo Santisima (19-3, 16 KOs) in the 11th round.

I'm only guessing, but it seemed Navarrete was drained from the start in last nights fight. Maybe it has taken a toll making weight for the fith time in 14 months. Maybe he should go to 126 anyway. Other title holders at 122 will wait for him to jump up I'd bet because other than last night Navarrete looked to be too much for anyone.

I like him but he cant beat Stevenson. Too reckless with his attack, too open for counters. He should wait until Stevenson moves to 130.

Navarrete can beat Stevenson. Navarrete might be slower and reckless but has something Stevenson doesn´t have.... raw power, granite chin, and more heart.

Navarrete will clean the division and the next one. He is too dedicated to his trade. He has qualities other boxers can only dream of. I agree with heart, dedication, discipline, chin, awkward but effective style, active, the list goes on and on... more than three of those you cannot teach or enforce on anyone!!! Definitely humility also counts as one more@!!!

I'd like to see him unify with Rey Vargas before he moves up but I doubt that's on the agenda for Top Rank or Golden Boy.

They have the same promoter and are both WBO champs. Navarette has the right to demand an immediate title shot at Stevenson per WBO rules. If he doesn't then you know he doesn't think he can win. If you mention he should take a tuneup at 126 ignoring his mandatory shot before fighting Stevenson then you don't think he can win neither. Its that simple.

Ok, so you agree if he doesn't exercise his champion's right to a mandatory shot its a duck?
