There is a stark difference between a bad matchup and being overrated

If wilder was overrated, that to me takes away what fury did, which was an incredible performance. Wilder is always going to have an issue with Fury, who has surprisingly excellent boxing IQ, good upper body movement and great balance. Wilder up to this point did basically everything one could and should do professionally. A loss doesnt take away who he is, Fury is a superior fighter. However i still would pick Wilder over Joshua because i still think Wilders height and power would be an issue. I absolutely could be wrong, but thats why they fight the fights.

Both things can be true at the same time. It was a bad matchup, but wilder only got his fame for knocking out poor or unprepared opposition.

Wilder was overrated. He's been outboxed many times even against his cherrypicks. We had ****** people saying he was the #1 HW in the world. He was the favourite to beat Fury twice and lost both.

Fury wasnt SUPPOSED to be a bad match up for Wilder. You better believe a large part of the reason they were okay putting Wilder in with Fury (besides them thinking he was a fat washed up cokehead who couldnt get in shape quick enough in the first fight) is because of Furys reputation for being pillow fisted. They figured Wilder would get a full 12 rounds to land his big hail Mary punch without any real threat of being hurt himself in the meantime. They also (like a lot of other people) took the wrong message from the Cunningham KD, they focused on Fury being dropped hard by a cruiser and concluded that he was chinny, when what they should have paid attention to was how Fury got up, kept his composure and recovered very quickly.

You can now see why alleged 50 year old Ortiz (who himself hasnt faced anyone else worth a **** for 4-5 years) is the only high level boxer/puncher Wilder had ever faced.
