Having watched a few interviews especially the one with Sugerhill I think I understand the game plan and what they mean about going for the knockout.

People are thinking they mean go in throw a bomb and its over. That isn't ever going to happen.
What they mean is Fury will go forwards and pressure him more and the volume of punches will be what knocks him out.

They mentioned the punch stats which are really interesting. Wilder has an accuracy of around 10% whilst Fury has an accuracy of about 30%. The problem is all it takes is one of those Wilder punches to connect and its over. But in those stats you see in some rounds Wilder rarely actually hit Fury. In round 10 he only landed 1 punch.

A few times Fury hurt Wilder and Wilder held on. Rather than continue to put pressure on Fury backed off.
By resetting like that gave Wilder space to recover and to allow him to still have the chance to connect with his mega punch.

So I actually think the game plan will work. If Wilder is missing and gets wobbled again the plan will be for Fury to close the space and continue to throw. Not back off like his old trainer asked. If Wilder can only land around 1 in every 10 punch he will miss even more when under pressure. His defence is really poor.
