He has suddenly become the biggest puncher of all-time in the past 2 years.
Afew years back? He was a big puncher, but Anthony Joshua was considered on par with him, or maybe even just above 'That was the general consensus within the boxing world'Comment

No, Wilder's look more devastating because he aims for the chin and hits flush. Half of that impact is speed of the punch and velocity.
Earnie Shavers was just raw power. He didn't need to setup or step back or any of that crap. Just power.
Wilder's KOs remind me of "Terrible" Terry Norris. Sharp, fast knockouts where the opponent doesn't see the punches. It wasn't like Norris was this super strong puncher though - evident by how Julian Jackson (a TRUE power puncher) dismantled him.Comment

Yeah if you flash back to 2017, no one was saying this about Wilder. I think it really picked up after the Breazeale fight and it just exploded to new levels after he put Ortiz away with literally the first right hand he landed.
I feel like things like this are best decided when the fighter is retired, but right now it really does feel like Wilder is the biggest puncher ever (with the right hand, his left ain't saying much). Things that help his cause are the insanely padded record; the first 32 guys were all stiffs.... some even began their careers as low as super middleweight. His level of opposition for his defences haven't been great either, most (if not all) of the guys he knocked out have been put away by other fighters in sometimes just as devastating fashion.
I'll wait to see how his career ends up before giving a definitive judgement. You had a lot of guys claiming GGG hit harder than Julian Jackson when he was running through his opponents but that noise quieted down once his opposition got better.Comment

For one punch I think Wilder's straight right wen he throws it perfectly straight on balance with his feet set is one of if not the hardest punches ever. It is much harder than the in my opinion overrated Shavers straight right.Sometimes Wilder does not throw the right correctly and then it is not nearly as hard. Wilder has a good left hook but it is not exceptional. Liston and Foreman, especially Foreman had a bigger variety of killer punches than Wilder even if no one punch is quite as hard as a perfect Wilder straight right. Foreman was a great puncher with all the punches from jabs to straight rights to hooks and uppercuts with either hand. He could knock guys out with a much larger variety of punches than Wilder. For one single perfect punch I go with the Wilder straight right but for all around KO power with both hands I think Foreman and Liston were better and they fought better opponents overall than Wilder who flattened a lot of lousy fighters and a few good ones.Comment

Duahpas, stiverne, Washington and Ortiz had never been stopped.I’ve had some friends saying that Wilder is the hardest puncher of all time. Malik Scott has said this too and Atlas said something along these lines as well.
Now I vehemently disagree and believe the above 3 are all harder punchers than Wilder. Yes, Wilder punches very hard, in fact exceptionally hard. However, you have to look at his level of opposition. The above 3 knocked out much better opponents with better chins. Foreman knocked Frazier down 6 times before KOing him. You can’t rank someone’s punch power as the greatest when they haven’t knocked out people with great chins.
Discuss.
In fact, can you point me to evidence showing that the guys wilder stopped had weak chins?
Breazeale endured a lot of punishment against JoshuaComment
