I'm not the only one who consistently states that his boxing skills are weak, still, this many years into a pro career. And embarrassing footwork... but to me the biggest jinx is his power. It's made him too lazy to develop the boxing skills needed to pose a serious threat to excellent boxers like Fury. He could end up with a good sized pile of cash by the end of his career... but there will always be that 'what if' he'd developed further. I think Joshua would embarrass him just like he did Ruiz in the second fight. We'll see tonight. We know Fury can be caught, and Wilder can deliver. And Fury can box rings around Wilder. Too many variables to pick a definitive favorite. Should be a fun fight for the fans though, definitely.

Wilder has actually regressed. That second Ortiz fight showed it, he became more dependant on power. If he actually trains his legs to balance out his body and starts throwing different punches, he’ll give Fury a much better fight.
A well timed overhand right would be a great punch for Wilder to work on vs Fury. Problem is I don’t think he has the single punch to stop Fury outside of catching lightning in a bottle. He needs to be a better boxer and fight more.Last edited by SplitSecond; 02-24-2020, 02:12 PM.

Maybe Wilder fans will finally understand just how bad he is when it comes to boxing ability and ring IQ. Also why did he keep pulling away with his chin high in the air, it was cringe worthy watching him do that repeatedly.

If it isn't too late maybe he can finally change for the better. The aura of "if it isn't broken don't fix it" surrounding Wilder's career can certainly be put to rest now.
The very best performance of Wilder's career was one where he didn't abandon the idea of actually boxing in favor of simply winding up and throwing the right hand over & over and till it lands.
Wilder/Stiverne 1 was a glimpse of the fighter Wilder might have been. Wilder used both hands throwing actual combinations something you almost never see him do anymore, other that a weak 1, followed by a massive 2. If he's going to exercise the rematch clause, he might as well give boxing another shot.
