The manager of Miguel Cotto had this Friday its awaited meeting with a representative of the company Top Rank, and the same one served to confirm what it had already gone ahead: that the next fight of the champion will be the 2 of December in Atlantic City, and that everything aims at that it will not be a a world title fight. About the weight, they basically gave the options and left us decide", said Evangelista Cotto, uncle and trainer of the champion of the OMB, in addition to being his trainer, when alluding to the meeting that maintained with Brushes Trampler, of the Top Rank. "But most probable it is than we move up in weight", continued. "and also we said that if we are going to go to welter, there is no reason to be fighting at 144 either 145 pounds, but on 147". Previously, Top Rank - the company of the promoter Bob Arum to which Cotto is bound promotionally -, had indicated that cagüeño could be fighting in a "intermediate weight" in the billboard that will be transmitted by Showtime and that it will also include a defense of the Mexican Antonio Margarito, champion to welter of the OMB. Cotto warned after its victory on Paul Malignaggi in last June that that one would be its last fight in the 140 pounds. "It could be a fight to 10 rounds", continued Evangelista, that assured that nothing was spoken about a possible rival. "I imagine that at some moment they will make give us a list of the candidates".Comment

I dont think that is a good fight for Cotto. Why do you guys want him to move up and fight a guy who hasnt even really fought at 147 his ownself. Cotto should fight the guy who Margarito was going to fight which is Cosme Rivera. Thats a good tuneup for him and a fight he shouldnt have any chance of losingComment

I see what you're saying but remember, Winky will fight on Dec 2 through HBO, it doesn't matter who Winky fights, Cotto and Margo need to have decent opponents to be able to sell that fight, you know what I mean.Originally posted by DLTI dont think that is a good fight for Cotto.
