Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder: Legacy Is More Important Than The Business

Deontay Wilder will earn a career high pay day when he faces Tyson Fury on Saturday, but if you leave it to the Alabaman he'd rather chase a legacy than a paycheck. "I remember a time when the heavyweight division was dead, and no one knew who the champion was. Now, the division is on notice and everyone understands what's going on, and what better name to represent than me," Wilder told BoxingScene.com in an interview. "Some guys don't want to fight the best and are in it for other things. They just want to talk about the business of boxing. I'm into business, but I'm also into legacy and being great. That's important to me."

I'm a Wilder fan and I gotta say he obviously has no idea what comes out of his mouth sometimes. The heavyweight division isn't exactly deep but he's far from fought just the best since winning the title. We've all been patiently waiting to see him fight AJ and were still waiting. Honestly that's the fight the boxing fans wanna see

Well said Champion this is going to be no different to Muhammed Ali vs Henry Cooper 2.

It is going to be a bloodbath, with Fury eye hanging by his cheeks before the referee stops it and there is another rematch

Cant wait for this fight and it could be better than the previous which was awesome. A true 50/50 will boxing skill beat brute force? Im slightly thinking Fury can do it as he is smart and i liked how he knocked out Swharz.

Wilder could actually build a legacy if he can beat Fury then Joshua and defend his titles a couple to a few times against up and coming fighters before retirement. It would at least make a good story and give boxing fans something to debate about later on in life. He's 34 with a a couple more good years in him so its possible if he just goes for broke from here on out in his career

I think I speak for most boxing fans right now. Enough of the talking and back and forth already. Great job in promoting this fight. Now in the famous words of legendary referee Mills Lane, “LETS GET IT ON!!!!”
