Agree with this , GGG is old and did not look great his last fight.Plant sees a potential W against someone who still has a name.Thought he should of bet on himself in a fight with Canelo, would not be mad with a Smith/Benavidez fight.

Hearn is a BIG PART OF THE PICTURE! How are fans not seeing this?! It’s not just about Canelo! Hearn can easily persuade Plant, particularly when Haymon won’t prioritize with Plant as he would Charlo. By allowing Plant to go to DAZN and lose it leaves tension of Hearn’s offer to Charlo with Andrade because industry is becoming saturated with the freezing out. First phase was Crawford vs Spence narratives.

Haymon basically advises Plant That taking fights with Smith or GGG for the same pay as Canelo means less difficulty and risk for the IBF and also for valuation. There’s this trend that’s piggy backing off the Canelo “inflation” but that’s all strategic. Both Hearn and Haymon know this, and it’s better to deal again with each other Than Haymon’s Nemesis with GBP.

Plant is going to lose against GGG. Same way Devry risked it with GGG. The big difference is that Devry is a SIGNIFICANTLY more sound fighter than Plant. It is like when Korobov was toying with Charlo and Eubank Jr. I guarantee you guys Plant is far from the ring IQ of GGG. He makes easy mistakes and lacks head movement. He’s just a combo attacker on high guards against non elite countering threats.

It’s not so good for PBC

might be waiting a while for someone to beat Canelo twice though, better Plants picks someone now.

If Plant beats Smith, I'd say he deserves the lionshare of money against Benavidez. WBA and IBF aside, that Ring belt still matters.

Golovkin has no problem making weight

I agree that the injury is bullshlt... but he did not leave SNAC because of injury, Conte dismissed him because Golovkin would not get with the program

Golovkin has faced 3x " threats " in his career

Canelo was a HUGE payday, and he was a underdog that Golovkin was confident of beating... so forget Canelo for a sec... Jacobs was a huge underdog, Golovkin was expected to win easily... and yet they did everything they could to avoid that fight... if the WBA had not mandated that fight, it never would have happened... and they only fought Derevy because he had just lost to Jacobs, and was an easier prospect than Charlo/Andrade

Golovkin has never really taken a big risk, ever... but you think that he will suddenly start doing that now?

I do not think that Golovkin will ever fight at 168... and I definitely do not think he would move to 168 to fight Caleb Plant, it would be for a Chavez-type opponent

Plant is not an easy-title, like Rocky Fielding... he would be a legacy fight for Golovkin at this point... but Golovkin just passed on legacy fights with 2x undefeated champions at 160

              your prediction makes no sense

Nah I actually think he does. His eyes and physique over the past few years doesn't look like they used to. Compare him at weigh-ins from 2015 and before and 2016 and after. He doesn't look quite the same. He looked much healthier at 164. I actually think he would fare better above 160. Who knows what the **** he and his team believe now though and whether they think they can beat anyone legit.

It will be the same situation of ridicule Alvarez faced when people felt he was ducking Golovkin. Anyone who has followed Alvarez's career knows he is sensitive to critique from fans and journalist.

which is a truly GREAT thing

that is the only reason why Golovkin got the Canelo fight at 160

Golovkin has been ridiculed for his timid opponent selection for YEARS... but when the opportunity presented itself to finally address the critics by selecting a genuine world-class opponent to become UNDISPUTED... he selected Vanes

then he passed on Charlo/Andrade to select Derevyanchenko

being sensitive to criticism means that you actually care about your legacy

                    agree with all 3 points

Plant/Smith is also a excellent fight

making weight is difficult, for EVERYONE... ALWAYS !

                      1) Golovkin is conditioned to making 160
                      2) 168 is a completely different ballgame, he knows this
                      3) Golovkin has never had the confidence to chase threats

he did not even jump to 168 for Chudinov/Ramirez level opponents when they were holding titles... but, suddenly he wants to take those kind of risks now??...

and this is just a few short months after insisting that fighting Charlo/Andrade for the WBC/WBO made "no sense"... but then jumping on Derevy for the IBF, suddenly did make sense?

                      can't see it

can't see any of that stuff happening

Golovkin will not jump to 168, especially not for Plant
