If you watch Roberto Duran fight, and forget he is "Roberto Duran", is his skill set really impressive? I say no.

People act as if Duran was some world beater, his best victory was eeking out a decision against a green 21 year old boy who was Ray Leonard at the time. He got a gift decision against Iran Barkley.

There are several alleged "greats" who if you really look at their skills, they are not special. Marciano, Joe Louis, Julio Cesar Chavez are 3 people who come to mind for me.
Chavez no skill. All time great body puncher and defensive fighter.

I hate to disagree with GhostofDempsey but I didn't find the fight all that close scoring wise either. Although I thought each round was close and competitive I thought Hagler was winning them.isn't

I really can't see how Hagler was just a couple rounds a way of losing that fight. Maybe I need to rewatch it.

It's one thing to watch them, it's another to get in the ring with them.

There's a reason why those 3 won almost every time. Something you'll likely never understand unless you go back in time and get into the ring with them. All 3 were frigging good!
