Just rewatched Naseem vs Kelly. What a BARN BURNER!!!!!!!!

One of my all time favorite fights that I've probably seen over 20 times. Love it. None of Kelly's KDs seemed like they hurt Hamed, but he was countering him well and making him pay. Hamed though had all time heavy hands and crushed Kelly at the end. Glad the ref stopped the fight when he did, or else Kelly could have gotten hurt badly.

Hamed was already on his downward spiral.

He was a bantamweight fighting at feather.

Think he is a heavyweight now.

I saw it live on TV back then.

Iirc, it was Hamed's US debut.

That was a hell of a fight.

Somehow passed me by until now, boxing wasn't uppermost on my mind back in '97 and it's not one of the ones I'd caught up on since I came back to the sport in 2011. Thanks for the heads up man.

Kelley had some great fights, against Derrick Gainer (1st) and Troy Dorsey for example

Why isn't Kelly in the hall of fame...he paved the way for lil guys to make big money and up to that point had one loss in 40 something fights

His fights were just as exciting as say Arturo Gatti or ray Mancini but he actually won most his big fights before he was past prime

His fight with Gainer, hamed, cobrita Gonzalez etc. He only lost to world champions or hall of famers at or near his best.
