All those guys were ****** and manipulated by their management to take those purses. You really think there wasn't a conflict of interest when most of those guys were managed or third party controlled by the same guy that advises Floyd.
****** or not my point is guys were jumping at that opportunity to fight Floyd with the mindset of, "if I beat him, I become the man, if I lose, I made more money than I ever made". They took "short money" cuz they didn't wanna lose the opportunity & knew they wouldnt make what he was offering elsewhere.
Now the narrative or attitude has changed. Guys don't care about the opportunity, they want "cash out" money or nothing at all. Guys who havent even made 5million are turning down 10million and demanding more. It just makes no sense to me
look at GGG. He took the "short money" the 1st fight (more than any Floyd opponent not named Pac or Connor) and then after arguably winning, was able to demand more & get what he wanted in the rematch. My thing is if you know u can beat him, f-uck it take the most they're willing to give you, beat him and then get two paydays out of it. Rather than walking away with nothing & crying that you're being "ducked".
They don’t seem to be factoring in that it isn’t some big easy payday for the opponent. Canelo isn’t Mayweather. The opponent is likely to be crushed and then gone will be his aura of whatever it was. The demand to see him will suffer. Pay up or shut up, Canelo.
crushed?? More like safely decisioned. Let's not pretend like we're talking about a prime Mike Tyson. Canelo kos inferior competition like a khan or fielding. But any top opponent goes 12 with Canelo. The only exception was Kovalev and that was because he was already ko'd twice in 2 consecutive yrs and fighting for the 2nd time in 10 weeks at 36 yrs old. Otherwise he would've seen the finish line too.

I'm pretty sure Golovkin turned down and scoffed at "short money"(a flat fee) until they were willing to give him a PPV percentage for that first fight. That's how I remember it correct me if I'm wrong.
When the fight grosses massive money then the other guy deserves his share. Canelo and Oscar are no different to Hearn and Joshua in they want to keep all the money. This is why a lot of the real fights don't get made .They need to understand they need to pay for decent opponents as even the mugs won't be mugs forever. Canelo come down off your $60m Yacht and pay BJS properly he will give you and the fans a good run for that money!
