Quite simply because ‘fans’ would hype it up because it has a title and would make Canelo a true 4 weight champion. And it’s likely GBP will likely use this to force an even worse opponent next time, citing he just fought for a title

But Plant has virtually no resume. Yes Canelo has had a very solid run and props to him. But at least Murata would bring in money, and actually has more of a resume, even despite the losses. Not sure if Canelo will drop to 160 though
