Yea that's exactly what im saying. Go back and read about it. IMO he did it because he did not want people saying he was bigger, and 2nd because he could. Look it up NO CATCHWEIGHT. Don't know why your arguing when you cant possible know anything about a catchweight that never happened. Plus it makes your man look better. Not sure if you were watching boxing then(no insult just don't know how old you are), but I was and EVERYONE was surprised when he made 156.
Who fought the tougher competition? Floyd Mayweather Jr or Bernard Hopkins?

Hopkins by a small Margin. Jones, Winky Wright, Taylor, a prime yet undersized Oscar and Tito, and Tarver coming down 40 pounds. Calzaghe. Hopkins took more risks later in his career because that was where the money was. Floyd’s best wins were Corralles and the Castillo rematch. No one else was at their best when they fought him.Last edited by GhostofDempsey; 02-14-2020, 08:00 PM.Comment

You laugh at Canelo I suppose because he was young, but leave out May was old, and much smaller. Pac was same era(even though he also was younger)and has shown he was far from shot. Im a fan of both by the way. but saying because B-hop has 8 losses means he has fought better comp makes no sense to me. Also think your downplaying May time at 47 quite a bit considering he never weighted above 149 fight night, and still beat quite a few guys I left off like Maidona and Mosley(who was older), but coming off one of his best wins.
But yeah in all those fights, he waited until the right time to fight the guy and/or got them on a catchweight...sorry, that's cool if you just want to win...but as for getting credit (from me anyway) well I just have to discount those wins/opponents a good bit.

And yeah as you said, that win over ODLH looks good because of the fact that BHop came down in weight to face him, and stopped him...that's why I originally listed it as a good win for him...not a great win, but still a good win.Comment

He took his risks at the end of his career which was the opposite of Floyd...just kind of an interesting comparison.Comment

I don't even hate on Floyd's time at 147 and above...just as I said, I don't take all those, or any of those wins really, at face value...him fighting at those weights and having any success at all is REALLY impressive to me..as you said, the weights for him at that time showed he was really just fighting at his real weight...which is impressive.

I really can't believe someone is on here saying that catchweight was BHop's idea or that he wanted it...like I just can't even man...and Bhop is not really 'my man'...I just call it like I see it on boxing stuff.

Well you need to believe it because its true. We have talked before and I enjoyed it, but if your going to keep acting like I don't know what im saying in a kinda disrespecting way then lets put a REAL bet and you can find some proof(that don't exist) to prove me wrong. You obv don't remember a deal about catchweight and are just assuming it because it don't really make sense. Well B-hop was an odd guy, and you have someone telling you that I KNOW it was not a catchweight. Go google ODLH V B-hop weigh in and read a story or two and then be cool and admit it.Comment

Lol at Canelo? You do know Mayweather's the only fighter with a win over him in over 50 fights right? "B-b-but catchweight doe." No current welterweight would make it to the final bell against the version of Canelo that Mayweather fought. Let alone win every round.
Lol at Pac? Pac is a seasoned ATG who till this day would be favored to beat any welterweight not named Crawford or Spence. If you go back five years to the Pacman who fought Mayweather, he may be favored to beat them as well. I'm not gonna sit here and say Pacquiao was in his prime, but being past prime is a LONG way from being washed up. To say that version of Pacman isn't a very tough fight is ignorant.Comment
