I've always enjoyed watching him fight. Hoping it goes well for him and he makes some money if that is what he is after.Comment

Hey Curt. Do you really think this is a good idea for him? I like him too, but to me this is sad news because he was done when he retired, and inactivity is THE WORST for an old fighter. This will not end wellSergio Martinez, one of my favorite boxers, is coming out of retirement.
SERGIO MARTINEZ WILL RETURN TO BOXING, FORMER TWO-WEIGHT WORLD RULER SETS DATE OF JUNE 6
The Ring mag has the article. Shook BS.com won't let me post the link
He's in great shape and isn't being all ''get me a title''. He says if his chin/body can take the shots, he will proceed.
And therein lies the problem with taking on a bum. The guys with the titles will not be easy targets.Comment

Shi.t feed him to GGG...then GGG will get a big name on his resume that everyone will give him props for I guessComment

If he is in the same condition he was when he fought Cotto no one will get props for beating him. Cotto got more props for losing to Canelo than he got for beating Martinez. IMO. That speaks volumes about his physical condition for the Cotto fight.Comment

I hear ya Tony, was just trolling a bit...have never understood the overrating of wins over past prime fighters, especially above their best weight.
Seems to me to be like beating a 7/10 fighter...or the equivalent of beating a good solid pro more or less in his prime...some seem to overrate those wins over past prime guys because it suits their narrative for their favorite fighters.Comment

I really enjoyed watching Martinez. I didn't see all his major fights but what I saw I liked. He was a brave fighter and always responded to adversity. Hope he doesn't end up like Tommy Hearns and other fighters that go on too long.I hear ya Tony, was just trolling a bit...have never understood the overrating of wins over past prime fighters, especially above their best weight.

yes well said...I share your sentiments completely...it's very hard to see any boxer/fighter go on when they should pretty clearly have hung them upComment
