After rewatching the fight and listening to Ben Davidson in the corner before round 9, I think it shows why Fury left. Ben telling him to fight wilder only with his left hand and basically disarmed him mentally while going in with a killer coming at him heating up. Rewatch the commentary before round 9, Roach shoots Davidson a look like he knew he was giving inexperienced bad advice and i think it really could have led to the knockdown.
Fury comes out trying to just use his left and thus wilder was able to walk him down. It’s only after he goes down does Fury wake up and start to throw his right more to keep wilder off him and make him show some respect.
This I believe is the reason for the switch. Fury needs to have wilder respect the right/power to not walk him down and overwhelm him. Davidson mind****ed him and basically tamed the inner beast and mentality in fury in my opinion, then when fury got hit, his true killer instinct came out.
Ben Davidson doesn’t understand the important of killer instinct and there mindset of a fighter to kill or be killed, and tried to kill that in Tyson which ultimately led to his knockdowns, I think, but luckily that awoke the true “fighting man” in fury, which is when he’s at his best.
