  • Comments Thread For: Caleb Plant and a Super Middleweight In Between

By Cliff Rold - With seventeen weight divisions in boxing, it stands to reason there will always be pockets of hit or miss in most of them. Even welterweight, if less often than seemingly any other class. It's not that there is ever a time when the top ten of any weight class isn't full of really good fighters. Plant vs Benavidez sounds like a really good fight tbh. Too bad PBC gonna make sure to keep them apart at least until one of them starts lagging behind.

It can be fun division, add guys like Ali Akhmedov, Bek Melikuziev and make another super 6 or world boxing series

I find it intersting that the Matchroom/Eddie Hearn types don’t attack Caleb plant. No one at Matchroom bashes him to fight one of their fighters, no ones attacking his ticket sales and posting YouTube videos about lagging ticket sales, no ones attacking his competition, no ones insisting he signs with dazn.....I find that VERY interesting. He’s at the weight class Canelo is in and the ggg has talked about going to. Callum Smith and ggg are represented by Matchroom and fight on dazn but there has been no attempt to tear down Plant.....so very interesting. As Arsenio Hall said, “things that make you go hmmmmmmm.....”

A World Boxing Super Series would be perfect at super middleweight right now.

Plant could beat Benavidez. Benavidez has great, fast hands, but he's slow on his feet. Plant could outbox him. With that said, I want to root for Benavidez because he has superstar qualities.

You conveniently omit that Plant generates relatively less discussion here in general. He's practically an NSB afterthought. The increased scrutiny and ensuing nerd warfare is part and parcel of the higher profile of those you alluded to. Just a viable alternate explanation to the race angle you're pursuing.
