Hopkins while Ward was brought more “veteran” tactics into the ring!
You’ve never seen a boxer head butt low blow a fighter until you’ve seen Ward, I’ll give it to him he’s creatively cunning and does whatever it takes to win!
Ward had more dimensions and skills while Hopkins relied solely on speed and fundamentals.
Ward could fight inside and short, as well as long. He had more combinations and was more consistent, as well as ability to punch on angles and be more creative with shot selection.
Hopkins looked for the same shot when it presented itself over and over with great timing. Ward had that as well and then some. Ward also had better footwork.
