I don't think being overweight helps a boxer take hard punches any better. I have seen too many fat heavyweights knocked out cold to believe that. Stiverne weighed almost 300 pounds and Wilder blew him away like nothing in about a minute while the much lighter Stiverne went 12 rounds with Wilder.
For those who think Fury is going to box

Size matters and this is the reason why every heavyweight can punch. Stiverne has had health issues for sometime and wasn’t really fit. Him being 300lbs was a result of lack of proper training whereas Fury is managing his weight. Fury still does his running and normal training so he is adding some muscle. Weight also helps in the clinch. As you lean on your opponent it takes its toll on them after 7 rounds. If you sit on your punches which is what Fury is trying to do and have the weight then your power does improve.I don't think being overweight helps a boxer take hard punches any better. He will box
Fighters revert to type once they get in. Fury also always says why would he stand and fight guys when he has better skills. So he isn’t going to just throw that out of the window
I do think he might commit to throwing more or landing harder shots, but it will come as a result of finding openings with his usual styleComment
