Comments Thread For: Fury: If Cut Opens Up in Wilder Rematch, It's Out of My Control

It was lucky - he was out cold. He didn't force himself to regain consciousness - he just did. And then to be able to get up and not be on wobbly legs that was lucky too.
Plenty of fighters get up from knockdowns but then there are are times when it's not possible too.Comment

Imagine Wilder leaving a gash on Furys forehead like Badou Jack had in the first round. We would all be on the edge of our seats, or feet for the rest of the fight.Comment

Every other time someone rose from a knockdown or recovered from. A beating ive always heard it called heart, but never luck. It's the very thing that makes champions, that makes all the great moments in boxing history. Not a lenient ref, a ref that actually carried on counting to see if the guy got up on time. And obviously he was fit to continue, look at the rest of the round.I admired Fury after that fight but then he ran from the rematch and fought 2 nobodies. He was done after the first Wilder fight. Fury never thought Wilder could hit him let alone knock him down.
Getting up from the knockdown was just luck and conditioning and a lenient ref. It's not a skill Fury will be able to use at will. Next time it happens he will most likely stay unconsciousComment

There are plenty of examples of fighters being stopped on the canvas from knockdowns like that. And plenty who got up and got stopped without even being given a chance to walk forward. Same with the cut against Wallin - anyone else would have been stopped with that cutEvery other time someone rose from a knockdown or recovered from. Fury did show a lot of heart. He deserved a lot of respect for that after the fight. I wasn't saying it was 100% luck he got up - but you don't seem to understand the human body. Just like you can't always control if you go down or not - you can't always control if you get up or not.Comment

He wasn't out cold lol.... Fury only said it was to make the moment he got up seem other worldly. Watch when he gets knocked out down, look at his right leg and you will see that he still has control and consciousness. If he was out cold that leg would be completely relaxed and flat on the canvas.... the ref Jack Reiss said he spotted that.It was lucky - he was out cold. He didn't suddenly regain consciousness, he never lost it..... Montiel against Donaire is what it looks like when a fighter suddenly regains consciousness and gets up.Comment

Fury looked out cold to me. Ref probably giving reasons he thought of after the fight to explain why it wasn't stopped. He wasn't out cold lol.... Montiel was twitching and moving his legs. He was out for less time than Fury. You can see him trying to get up.
Fury KO was more like Groves/Froch 2 where Groves was out cold then started getting up and then the ref stopped Groves getting up.
In the first fight Groves didn't even go down and got stopped! Fury was lucky. If that fight was in UK it would have been stopped.Comment

But fans shouldnt be wishing for fights to be stopped when guys can clearly and did clearly, continue fighting well afterwards. Come on man, we wanna see action not controversy. There are plenty of examples of fighters being stopped on the canvas from knockdowns like that. I'm not wishing for fights to be stopped. But i was pointing out Fury got a lot of favours in recent fights compared to other fighters.
Imagine if Fury had got up in 12th round form that heavy knockdown and got seriously injured which let's be honest could have happened if Wilder hadn't gassed. No one wants to see anyone get hurt.Comment
