Supposing Ouma wins this weekend, he has stated he will go down and fight at 147 against Margarito. Clottey has also called Margarito out for December now. These guys are better than anyone Margarito has ever faced. If he turns down the challenge, do we have permission to bash him for ducking good fights? I honestly think if Margarito does not fight one of these guys in December or someone better, then he knows he is not very good and he is just waiting to cash out against Floyd Mayweather for more money than he's ever earned and one chance at greatness. He knows if he loses to Clottey or Ouma, then he never gets a fight with Mayweather. So is Margarito afraid if December rolls around and he ends up facing a Cosme Rivera type opponent? I say yes.
If Margarito turns down Clottey or Ouma...

I don't like to use the term "ducking" to describe guys who FIGHT for a living. On the other hand we should examine everybody through the same lens. If you think Floyd is ducking Margarito because he is not fighting him next then Margarito is ducking Ouma/Clottey. But if you're of my opinion that fighters work on their own schedule and have their own priorities first then neither are ducking. I doubt Margarito or Floyd or scared, I just think they don't see the reward as enough to take the risk.Originally posted by DiegoFuegoSupposing Ouma wins this weekend, he has stated he will go down and fight at 147 against Margarito. yeah, ducking is a harsh term, but what I highlighted is precisely thatOriginally posted by amagninI don't like to use the term "ducking" to describe guys who FIGHT for a living. LOL...................nice try. Clottey looked just great against his last opponent so did Ouma. Bring em on. I guess my problem with calling any fighter this is that it is sort of ridiculous. I mean we all make risk-reward calculations everyday. I decided to take a job with a more guaranteed salary rather than one where I could have made more but was incentive driven. This is their careers and a lot of money on the line for them so if I was in their position I don't think I would do any different. Pride is nice but it doesn't pay bills or put food on the table and that is all that is at stake for a dangerous fight for any fighter (especially if the money isn't right)Originally posted by DiegoFuegoyeah, ducking is a harsh term, but what I highlighted is precisely thatComment

Margarito turning down Clottey or Ouma is the equivalent of the Cavaliers turning down the playoffs next year.Comment

What are you asking me about? Do you think I'm referring to Floyd because if you READ the post then you would see I never mention his name. And that was intentional because the post had nothing to do with Floyd. It had to do with using the term ducking in regards to any professional boxer. Sorry that I have respect for people that risk their lives for a living.Originally posted by realboxingfan(money isnt right)????? wowComment

me too!! some people box for a living and some people actually risk their lives!Originally posted by amagninWhat are you asking me about? I'm missing your point. Are you saying that because Floyd selects his opponents carefully that his life isn't at risk but Margarito's is? Again I find myself pretty neutral and like both guys but come on man. Zab Judah is at least close in level of opposition to the best opponent Margarito has ever faced so how does Margarito risk his life more than Floyd (as I assume you mean Margarito is the fighter and Floyd is the boxer)? Over the course of his career Floyd clearly has been in with better more dangerous fighters so I am not seeing your point. Recently Floyd has fought ****ty competition especially compared to his early career. I just am not going to call him a ***** for that. I just will be an unhappy boxing fan, but who am I to judge someone else for what they want to do with their career? If he wants to throw his prime career away that is his right.Originally posted by realboxingfanme too!! some people box for a living and some people actually risk their lives!Comment
