Talks Begin For Hatton-Castillo on HBO PPV

It was reported by boxing scribe Dan Rafael of ESPN, that Jose Luis Castillo's promoter Bob Arum and Artie Pelullo, co-promoter of WBA welterweight champion Ricky Hatton, have had several discussions about matching the two fighters in an HBO PPV fight in the first quarter of 2007. The possibility of the fight actually taking place appears to be good. [details]

This would be an interesting match but I think Castillo might be a little too tough for Hatton. He didn't like how Collazo wasn't taking any of his crap during their fight. I don't think Castillo will be anymore proned to being psychologically shaken by the roughhouse tactics.

This would be sweet but why would Hatton defend the 147lbs belt against mandatory Urkal if he is gonna move back down to 140lbs to fight castillo. Is it possible that the fight will happen at 147lbs where Hatton would get to keep his hardware?

The question here is; is Hatton-Castillo ppv material? I'm not sure I would buy it...

Maybe I would, if they put on a great undercard.

Yeah, it much worhtier of PPV than some stuff I've seen on it the last couple of years. But the real clincher for me buying a pay-per-view is the undercard. The main fight can always be seen the following week but the undercards wont.

Anyway, I think this fight would definitely be a contender for my PPV dollars. BTW at 140lbs I think I might go with Castillo who I think is just more polished than Hatton is. At 147lbs I'm not sure who would win, I would have to think about that.

What is the chance that Castillo fails the weigh-in?
