Damn, he sounds desperate going to extremes. Who soaks their fists in gasoline when ten ounce gloves will be covering them up? Must be something from the bare knuckle days of the 18 hundreds.

They claim their techniques are like the old'ens except it's warped all to ****.
The nugget of truth here is the old bare knuckle guys used to resin their skin with rosen .... treated tree sap.
Jack Dempsey used to do it, that's why he looks like he's an awful tan sometimes. He used to do quite a lot of bare knuckle traditions, soaking, training, fighting. He was hardly a real gloved boxer in terms of technique or practice.
Anyway, my point is, no, drying your skin out with gas is just ******. Firstly, it's not tightening the skin the same manner. the old BK guys are forming callus by allowing hot sticky sap to lightly burn their skin. Hydrocarbons can tighten the skin but all they are doing is releasing water as they evaporate.
Who knows how a crew of van dwellers go on to gas. How on god's green earth they think soaking their hands in gas has anything to do with BK era....your know, well prior to gas cars or the ICE, I have no clue, but, there is a nugget of truth.
I seriously doubt there is any science for it, but, there is hardly any science in boxing at all. "science" comes from a guy named Mendoza who added fencing techniques to boxing and called it science, which, is why the 'science' of boxing can not explain power.....real science, kinesiology - the study of human mobility, explains power just fine.
So, point there is if there is any science to a petrol soak it's not boxing science....it'd be the energy guys who know that. For refinery accidents and stuff like that....surely they know the effects of soaking in their products....or at least the theoretical effects as that is an illegal test to actually test.
You're not allowed to give people cancer in the name of science.
