I remember Steve Bunce dedicated an episode of his boxing hour to him as well. I assume he knew Errol personally as he was very emotional.

Errol was a pretty well-rounded guy. He was captain of the English amateur boxing team; did stand-up comedy; was a market trader for six years; taught white-collar boxers; was a fight consultant to a play; and published an autobiography. I’m sure he made a few friends along the way. Lol

Welcome bro, there is also Kim Duk-koo (27) not sure if it is listed, died after the Ray Mancini fight.

There is another boxer which I cannot recall the name, if not mistaken he collapsed after winning a championship and died some days later.

Edited: Found the name - Choi Yo-sam (35) - Choi was defending his WBO Intercontinental Flyweight Title against Heri Amol, in the last 5 seconds of the fight Choi was dropped, but beat the count, few minutes later he collapsed in the ring.

Benny Paret (25) - Died after the Emile Griffith fight in 1962

Both lists are missing Jesus "El Bebe" Gallardo.

A few months after Chavez beat Giovanni Parisi, he was out with his friends Jesus Sanchez Angulo and his compadre and boxer and his sparring partner, Jesus "El Bebe" Gallardo, 25 wins, 3 losses 23 knockouts. They met up at Holiday Inn in the state of Mexico. In middle of their dinner, Chavez got up to use the men's room when Tijuana Cartel hired gunmen fired against Angulo and Gallardo, killing both. Ramon Arellano himself had hired them to kill Gallardo, over Gallardo snitching that a load of marijuana he got caught transporting belong the Arellano Brothers. Chavez, later, had a baby girl with Gallardo's widow.

Has anyone mentioned Julian Letterlough or Julio Gonzales?

Do you guys remember the exciting fight these 2 guys gave us? Both guys were exciting fighters but I loved the war that they had with each other in the ring!

It's still surreal thinking about Arturo Gatti's and Vernon Forrest"s death.

Yes, they were all in my original post. I’ve been updating the list as people mention specific names. Several members have provided links to different sites that are far more inclusive than the list I offer. I’m trying to pay tribute and stoke discussion. It’s not my intention to be definitive. Sadly, hundreds of boxers have died in the ring, and many more have died young. If anyone is interested in looking deeper, the links are there for further research.

Choi, as I pointed out in my list, is a rare case of a champion dying as a result of punches he absorbed in a fight. Thank you for adding more details to his story.

Incredible that so many boxers have been murdered that Boxrec actually dedicates pages to the names of all those athletes that suffered such a fate. Equally incredible is what happened to Gallardo (32). Thank you for the link, and the details of “Bebe’s” story.

Neither has been mentioned. You’re the first to bring them up. Thanks.

Julian (35) is listed in Boxrec among boxers who have been murdered. (Murcielago kindly provided the link, which can be found a few posts up.) Julio (35) was killed in a motorcycle accident by a drunk driver in Mexico. It’s sad and ironic that they fought each other and died at the same age, under different circumstances.

Yes. The details about both their deaths are disturbing. And yet, from what I’ve discovered while maintaining this thread, their stories are far from unique in terms of tragedy.

I randomly chose one of the boxers on the OP and came across this article regarding Jimmy Doyle:
