  • Comments Thread For: Claressa Shields: Amanda Serrano-Katie Taylor Is A 50-50 Fight

If Amanda Serrano's win Thursday night indeed leads to a showdown with Katie Taylor, Claressa Shields thinks their 140-pound title fight could go either way. Women's boxing's undisputed middleweight champion called Serrano-Taylor "a 50-50" fight during an interview with DAZN's Chris Mannix following Serrano's stoppage of Simon Da Silva in the third round in Miami. Brooklyn's Serrano (38-1-1, 28 KOs) and Ireland's Taylor (15-0, 6 KOs) might fight as early as April in London, according to Eddie Hearn, Taylor's promoter.

It’s 70/30 Serrano for me. Persoon robbery aside, Taylor really struggled that back half of 2019. The Greek woman she fought in October was game, and I thought Taylor only won by 2 rds. Also, Taylor is strictly a LW from what I’ve seen. Serrano has jumped around to multiple weight divisions and always looked the same. It’s hard to gauge with the 2 min rounds, but honestly if it’s in neutral territory I could see Serrano stopping Taylor atm.

          Amanda Serrano is the best.

My girl Amanda is going to open a section in school and going to school Katie Taylor and when she get boring of Katie, then Amanda is going to finish Katie Taylor.

Serrano might be a little too Pacquiao like for Taylor with her aggression.

              Not even close.

She's fought about 7 quality opponents in 40 fights. Shields has fought about 6 quality opponents already, and Braekhus has about 17 quality opponents in fewer fights than Serrano.

She's great, but she's mostly fighting over-matched opponents for vacant belts, then immediately vacating them.

              P4P:
              1. Braekhus
              2. Persoon
              3. Shields
              4. Serrano
              5. Taylor

Totally agree with your top 5 here, Persoon has retired though but no way is Serrano the top dog. Not sure what she is doing in regards to the Taylor fight, he has flip flop more times than Wilder in regards to fighting Joshua.

I don't think Persoon has retired, I had heard she was going back to the Olympics though.

She has been able to be successful in numerous weight classes. Certainly more than Braekhus.
