HBO offered them both probably career high paydays for that fight as well.
And all of that is beside the point anyway...Ward didn't turn down the fight because it didn't make money/GGG wasn't a test (everyone would have said he was, even then)...Ward turned it down because of his own personal issues, so he says...but truthfully he probably turned it down because it was a very high risk low reward fight...and Ward was always protective of his 0 so he didn't like those types of risky fights.
I don't mind boxers/fighters making smart business decisions...but I think what happened between GGG and Ward in 2013 is pretty clear...and then also in 2016 when Ward sent in that offer...I think it was pretty clear that it was a way to get him some attention...he knew GGG had Canelo/Cotto winner next and was always going to go that route.
