There are other factors that play into this. For one thing, if you claim to be the best and want to fight the best across three weight classes, then you should start doing just that. Kovalev was a good win, not a great win. Bivol has called him out at 168 or 175, that would be a much more compelling fight. Smith already KTFO Fielding prior to Canelo taking him on, so that was really a pointless fight for a second tier title. Jacobs was a very good win for Canelo, no argument there. I certainly wouldn't defend Charlo or Andrade in this argument. They haven't come close to what Canelo has accomplished. But, the guy who is making the most money will always be held to a higher standard, especially if he is claiming to be the best. That's just how it works.

Kov was a 7-1 underdog and not the best fight available. Neither is Murata.

You are leaving out some key information. You are leaving out he tested positive and served a 6 month suspension which delayed the ggg fight and gave canelo a better chance to win.

You are leaving out the whole champion emeritus situation and giving the belt to charlo rather than defending it.

You are also leaving out the fact a lot of people feel he lost both ggg fights and that is why they want the 3rd before ggg is too old to have a legitimate chance to win.
