It wasn't always flashy like a lomachenko, but Mayweather probably had the best footwork .
He rarely moved and danced around the ring like SRL did either, most of the time he stayed in the pocket and subtly shifts back when his opponents tried to punch or close the gap. He also was great at working his pivot to create angles for openings to counter and get off his own shots.
Look at this sequence against pac. Floyd is controlling distance with his feet by subtly backing up when pac tries to get close, ducks the left hand, pivots and creates an angle with his footwork, then finds an opening with a counter.

I was gonna argue, but, then I noticed Pac's footwork has already been buried in this thread and I don't really see any argument in what you've said juxtaposed to what I have said. Outside of it being contrarian in tone nothing here seems to make an attempt to negate what I said. It's more of a 'hey, he's good at this though'Pacquiao’s footwork isn’t bad in the slightest. He can cut off the ring and does, but his goal is usually lining up a straight left, even when he does cut a guy off, he’ll start circling inside to square them up and line a straight left, which leaves a big opening to circle out but Pacquiao often also hits guys on their way out, he’s got a great 180 left hand. Pacquiao’s style has never been to pin a guy on the ropes, most guy’s can’t keep a guy pinned on the ropes unless they create an inside fight.
He looked the best he has at cutting off the ring vs Floyd, stepped over to the right more, but Floyd is not easy to cut off the ring. Cutting off the ring isn’t pinning a guy to the ropes, it’s putting them infront of you so you can mount your offensive. To pin a guy that know’s how to move on the rope you have to grab and go inside. Fighter’s still have to maintain their defense and stamina while chasing, the guy chasing is always at a disadvantage.
Which, I wouldn't say he's bad at walking folks down or cutting the ring really. I think he's bad at capitalizing on his position which makes things like cutting the ring a bit of a moot point. I used the ropes as a singular example.
Marciano knocked men who knew how to move through the ropes. Most of his KOs on film are either with a man on the ropes or near them. It's a movement limiter and with a good capitalizer whose posture and positioning are on point, all they need to do is finish the job by stepping in and hitting the lug.
Pac gets a man in position just fine, then he bobs around like a kung fu guy and lets them off the hook.Comment
