    Luis Ortiz deserves some respect

Luis Ortiz has a very good record for 30+ fights at heavyweight.

His best win is surely his knockout of Bryant Jennings (Jennings’ first career stoppage loss).
Bryant Jennings was a good heavyweight that had an excellent resume, in my opinion. He troubled peak Wladimir Klitschko more than any other opponent did, avoided that ever-dangerous right hand for twelve rounds, and landed some good punches of his own against a legend who put defense first. Jennings should have been shown a lot more respect for his efforts on the scorecards; even though I believe he lost the fight, it was close.

That said, here comes Luis Ortiz and absolutely demolished him.

Although Ortiz lost twice to Deontay Wilder, the first fight was an old fashioned war that, given a few more well-placed power punches (or no special rest break to “check Deontay was ok”) and we could have a totally different HW landscape today. Even in the second fight, it must not be forgotten how poorly he made Wilder look until that right hand came in between the guard and popped him over. Even Fury didn’t outbox Wilder as well as Ortiz did.

With all this in mind, history will remember that Luis Ortiz lost close fights to someone that will go down as one of boxing’s greatest. He never lost to anyone else. And all this happened at the age of 40+, I’d even dare say he may be over the half-century mark from the way he looks.

So let’s all stand up and applaud Luis Ortiz. He deserves some love and recognition here. I’m serious about this. Who’s with me?

Ortiz has 1 top 10 win, Jennings who was ranked 8. Ortiz get's too much respect because of Wilder stans wanting to overrate him to blow up Wilders win.

If he we look at his career beyond his 1 good win, seeing how he dealt with Hammer and Allen was more than enough for me to know he's limited. Just for your references, Hammer was KO'd by Mariusz Wach and Allen was schooled to the point of being hospitilised by David Price.

Ortiz's amateur results are as unremarkable as his pro results are. Having one win against a decent HW, doesn't entitle you to much beyond the paydays you can get from them.

What I find astonishing is how Ortiz went so long without actually fighting anybody of note besides Jennings in the last 5 years.

I feel it was because he was ducked. He is/was one of the top five heavyweights but is not a big PPV draw. The other top heavyweights saw him as very high risk, very low reward.

Ortiz had the AJ fight. Thank you for that one Al Haymon
Ortiz turned down the Whyte fight in the UK. Thank you for that one Al Haymon
He is over at PBC right now, so why isn't he being paired up with their current HWs, or was he there just for a showcase knockout for Wilder? Thank you Al Haymon again.

            Ducked?

He spent a couple years out for Nandrolone or something, then he got a WBA shot against AJ and didn't fill out his form properly to declare his blood pressure meds, which are also used as masking agents btw and lost that shot.

Whyte also offere him to fight in July 18 or 19 can't remember which year and he said he couldn't fight then and he fought Cojanu on the same exact date.

He's never beat anyone worth a damn even Jennings looks like he was a flash in a pan, turning out not as good people thought he was gonna be.

His am record is extensive but lost to any half signiificant Cuban.

The only thing his got going for him is he outboxed Wilder but so have guys like Spzilka and no one is claiming he's even close to top ten.
