I will never get why he disappeared after the Pac fight. He was a great fighter imo (ask Cotto)

I think Clottey vs Spence stylistically would be a great back in forth fight...
But he always had a problem letting his hands go so i feel like he would find a way to shoot himself in the foot and lose... Then cry about the decision lol

He ruined his relationship with Top Rank by trying to insinuate to the African press that he threw the fight.

After that, I think he promoted himself for a tuneup or two, then came in as the opponent against Rosado and Mundine.

The amount of money he made against PAC (1.2 million) probably goes a looooonnng way in Africa.

yep he was a big welter who was probably a better athlete than spence but spence lets his hands go more. Would have been a good fight.

Vernon was better but Shane was awesome as a Light weight. He jumped straight to welter. I bet shane would have been outstanding at 140!

Plus it seemed Vernon had Shanes number stylistically.

The reason i say this is styles. Vernon could box from the outside well, yet he was a volume puncher as well. He would have to be more of a boxer against Spence, but he could mix it up when he had to. Clottey never seemdt o like to get into prolonged exchanges.
