  • Comments Thread For: Hurd: I Wanna Be Undisputed 154-Pound Champ Before Moving Up

NEW YORK Jarrett Hurd's goal is the same as before he lost three 154-pound titles. The former IBF/IBO/WBA champion wants to become the undisputed ruler of that division before he moves up to middleweight. He didn't mention Jermell Charlo, Jeison Rosario or Patrick Teixeira by name during a post-fight press conference early Sunday morning at Barclays Center, but those currently are the three title-holders he'd have to beat to transform that ambition into reality.

Rosario would hit him so hard that Hurd would wake up a decade ago, watching cartoons at his mothers. “I swear, I was a grown man and a boxing champion, ma! I don’t understand what is happening!”

Jermell Charlo vs. Jarrett Hurd is overdue! MAN UP! Lubin vs. Harrison (or Lara) should be the co-main event! What ever happened to Sebastian "The Towering Inferno" Fundora?

PBC has gone from Premier Boxing Champs to Pure Boxing Crap. How you put on that kind of crappy card last week and get away with it is beyond me. At least put something decent in the main event..Garcia-Ugas would have been decent. They holding a gun to showtime head for them to pay a license fee for those mismatches

Good to hear. Go take on Charlo while JRock and Rosario sort their sh**t out.

They all say that but they almost never do it. I just watched his last fight and I didn't think he looked very good against his cherry pick. I think Jermell would beat him. I doubt he is good enough to get all the belts even if he gets the fights.

Lies lies. So his new trainer refused to train him on short notice? Against a fighter who he was originally favored over and now who got upset himself? Ok even if that were true the first fight you had to take was against a WW no one even knew? Lies! You didn't want the smoke. God forbid fighters fight competitive fights and lose their marketability. Oh wait the performance along with the whole card ******!

So, everyone above me seems a tad skeptical Of Mr. Hurd. I personally think he means it, I just do not think he is long for 154. There is bigger money and more prestige at 160. I believe he is there by next year. I do hope he fights at least Charlo before he moves up. There is a huge risk, but it will erase the memory of that loss and set up a HUGE payday and fun fight with his brother at 160 if he wins.

I see two more fights at 154. Three max.
